I’m back with Rocketboom this summer — this time, helping them to brand some of their shows as they come into their own. Sorry guys, no meme tees! Instead, I’ve had the opportunity to come up with an identity for one of the network’s newer additions, Rocketboom New York City. Every Wednesday, the lovely miss Ella Morton brings out the best of New York via charming outings and interviews. This week, it’s a kickin’ tour of New York a la Mad Men, another time it was some dudes who make pickles, and before that she ate a cookie with the Monster himself…you get the picture! It’s a fun show and I was pretty pumped to do work for it.
Haven’t used a paintchat since…well, probably early high school. I forgot how nice it is to just draw and chat with other dorks online. Can you tell which drawing is mine?
An idea for a new piece. First comes the SketchUp model of the space I want to use. Here it is in its beginning stages.
I’ve found SketchUp to be an invaluable tool to help me quickly produce the shapes I want and manipulate them easily. This model, which is about halfway to where I think I need it to be, is the result of only about 30 minutes of work! There’s no way I could have produced this image in proper perspective by hand as simply as this program allows me to. Hurrah for technology!
Once this model is completely fleshed out, my next steps will be to do some thumbnails for POV, palette, and symbols. Perhaps this should have come first, but often my idea for a space will occur first–especially in this case, where the room is being reproduced from real life.
I’ve shuffled around some content on this site, and added a few paintings from this last semester. Soon to come is all of my design work. Until then, you can see what’s been added.
So all the work that I did that is probably worth blogging about here is now being photographed for the Society of Illustrators student competition.
Which means that I don’t have access to it.
SO, here’s a link to a recent one-week project for my Graphic Design senior project with Ali Madad! We were asked to make a music mix and create some kind of visual part to it–poster, packaging, whatever. I made a webpage! You can see it at:
Also, in case you haven’t heard me screeching about it or whatever, I have a tumblr blog now. It’s really just a place to put stuff I like. Follow it, won’t you? http://hellolittlefish.tumblr.com
