Sketchbook

I need to learn to buy sketchbooks that actually fit in my scanner. This one spread took six scans to put together.

It keeps me from scanning more pages at once, haha. Anyway I’ve been playing with the I-don’t-like-the-way-this-looks-so-i’m-just-gonna-throw-some-shit-on-top-of-it approach to sketchbooking…and in a 10×14 book, there’s a lot of room to do that… So I get fewer pages done. But bigger is better, right?

One of the things I like about working big and scanning at high resolutions is being able to see little bits of nonsense that are sometimes a lot more interesting than the piece at large. Here’s a bit of the above picture, at 100% in a 300dpi scan:

I love scanning things at ridiculously high resolutions and then looking at splatter textures and the way watercolors paint themselves. Awesome.
